Uganda- Kampala, Sheikh Nuhu Muzaata While speaking at the burial of Frank Gashumba’s father Colonel Antonio Kasumba in Villa Maria village, Kaliilo in Kalungi district on Wednesday.
Muzaata revealed that Ugandans are fed up of National Resistance Movement (NRM) fighters who don’t want to relinquish power to a new generation on grounds that they are the only people with vision to transform Uganda to another level.
He told Gen. Tumwine and army representatives in parliament to immediately to stop seeking public sympathy by claiming they sacrificed for people of Uganda because nobody sent them to the bush.
This government of NRM which has been in power for more than 32 years does not have more 30 years to lead Ugandans because they are at the weakest point now. They Are only using military and teargas to intimidate Ugandans that they fought which we shall not tolerate anymore,” he said.
He reminded NRM staunch supporters like Tamale Mirundi, Lwengo chairperson Godfrey Mutabazi and others who were at the burial that during Presidents Milton Obote and Iddi Amin’s regimes protagonists thought that their governments could never fall.
“They used to say UPC everywhere but where are they now?” Muzaata asked, warning security operatives who are arresting youths for putting on red berets and overalls to stop with immediate effect, because it’s time for the youths to lead this nation to another level.
Muzaata’s harsh words came shortly after Gen. Tumwine had told Parliament that he and others fought to bring the peace that Ugandans are enjoying at the moment.
“When we say we have sacrificed, some people get concerned, you can go and hang yourself but it is a fact,” Gen. Tumwine said recently at parliament.
Gen. Tumwine said that when he appeared before Procedure and Rules Committee of parliament where he had been referred over allegations that he threatened Dokolo Woman MP Cecilia Ogwal, following a statement she made in parliament that he had pulled a gun on her in the Seventh Parliament.
